BASEBALL/SOFTBALL FIELDS All but one field is located at the Glenwood Recreation Complex. The fields range in size from t-ball to youth baseball/adult softball. A city field located on South Vine Street is used primarily for the adult co-ed softball league.
HIGH SCHOOL TRACK The track is available to the public for walking and jogging activities. It is located just south of the high school building.
KEG CREEK WALKING TRAIL The Glenwood Rotary Club and Glenwood High School students built this trail. The trail is 3.1 miles, running on both sides of the Keg Creek and onto the backside of the Glenwood Recreation Complex.
SWIMMING POOL Managed by the city of Glenwood, the pool is an outdoor facility, open from late May to mid-August located at 912 3rd Street Daily usage rates are available as well as season membership with rate schedule dependent upon living in or out of the city.
SOCCER COMPLEX The complex is managed cooperatively between the Glenwood Soccer Board and the city of Glenwood. Located east of the main square, the complex has 8 fields, ranging from U-6 to high school.
GOLF COURSE Located at 57073 240th Street, this is a 9-hole course. Annual membership is available as well as daily green fee rates.
2 OUTDOOR BASKETBALL COURTS A lighted court is located at the Recreation Complex on Highway 949 (Old 275/34). This court was built in memory of a Glenwood Police officer. The other court is non-lighted and located on South Vine.
2 LIGHTED TENNIS COURTS The city manages two sites, which equals 4 courts. Both are lighted and available to the public at no charge. One site is on South Vine. The newer site is at the Glenwood Recreation Complex, located east of the Town Square.
BOWLING CENTER Midwest Lanes is a 10-lane automatic scoring facility with various leagues held for adults and children. A game room, grill and lounge is also located at the center.
HORSESHOE PITCHING AREA This area is located north of the Glenwood Lake Park with 15 pitching areas. Local tournaments are held in the summer.
SKEET AND TRAP SHOOTING The club is located 2 miles south of town and offers various fields and activities (see skeet/trap league). The club, locally funded and supported has been built by its membership. Annual activities include hunter safety for children 12 and older, wild game feed, 4th of July party for members and guest, banquet and fundraiser, youth fishing contest and youth hunter education challenge. This challenge is a 10-event competition for middle and high school ages.
BOXING CLUB The club coached by Johnny Determan is located at 14 North Walnut (above Dr. Fryzek's office). 1988 marks the second year for the club, which hosted a local boxing show in the fall of 1998. The annual cost is $50 with a portion of that money going to registration with U.S. Boxing Federation. The competitive season, running from September to March is for boxers age 8-32 with competition in local and regional competitions. Call Johnny at 527-3657 for registration.
DANCE STUDIO

Ami Pedersen teaches tap, jazz, ballet and hip-hop to boys and girls ages 3-high school seniors at 417 Sharp Street. Lessons lasting 50 minutes are held 1 time per week-Monday through Thursday evenings. Age and experience divides the students into groups. The lessons are based on the school year (September to May) with an annual recital in June. Registration closes in mid-October. Cost is $30 per month. An option of adding tumbling lessons will decrease the cost by $5.00 per month. Ami can be contacted at 527-9327.

Also at 417 Sharp Street are tumbling lessons taught by Gary Giaffoglione. He may be contacted at home at 527-9309. His lessons are on Saturday mornings from 8:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. His students, boys and girls ages 4 and up are divided into beginners, intermediate and advanced.
Registration closes in November with an annual recital held in June (along with the dance studio). Cost is $30 per month or $25 per month if taking both dance and tumbling.

THERAPEUTIC POOL Located at the On With Life Center on the grounds of the Glenwood State Hospital School, the warm water pool is available to the public for rehabilitative services.
FITNESS CENTER This is a privately owned facility located at Fernald Chiropractic office at 24 North Walnut. Annual membership is available which entitles the member to the use of equipment. Information can be obtained at 527-9880.
KARATE STUDIO Jon Williams owns and operates the White Tiger Studio located at 112 North Locust. Classes are held for children at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Adult and weapons classes are also available. The cost is $25 per month. Jon may be contacted at 527-4429.
SAND VOLLEYBALL COURTS Located in the Glenwood Recreation Complex, the courts were provided to the city by the Lions Club. The two courts are lighted and available to the public at no cost.
WABASH TRACE NATURE TRAIL This trail is converted from abandoned railroad line. The total trail is 63 miles long and available for hiking and biking. A portion of this trail goes through Mills County where access can be gained in Mineola, Silver City or Malvern.


Theaters/Music/Arts

COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE THEATER The Mills Masquers Theater Company produces shows year around at the Barton Theater located one mile north of Glenwood on Hwy 275. More information can be obtained at 527-3600.
OUTDOOR AMPITHEATER The Davies Amphitheater is located at the Glenwood Lake Park. Quality family entertainment is offered throughout the summer months. It seats 750 people with a complete sound system and full theatrical lighting. A nominal cost of $2 for adults and $1 for students is charged. Family memberships are also available for the season. MOVIE THEATER The theater is located 414 First Street. Movies are shown nightly with matinees being shown on weekends. Call 527-4433 for rates and current showings.
BLUEGRASS CONCERT (PACIFIC JUNCTION) These concerts are held in Pacific Junction on alternate Tuesdays at the community center from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. More information can be obtained by calling Earl and Ruth Smith at 527-5740 (evenings).

Parks

GLENWOOD LAKE PARK Hiking trails, picnic, camping and fishing areas are available. The park is located on the eastern edge of the city. The park also features the Mills County Historical Museum, the Coddington Barn, the Davies Amphitheater, and the old Henderson jail. The park was 150 years old in 1998.
PONY CREEK PARK This 55-acre park is located in the Loess Hills five miles west of Glenwood. Camping, picnic areas, hiking trails and boating are offered.
HILEY PARK Located in the Glenbrook area at Hillcrest Drive, the park is approximately ½ acre in size with play equipment for small children. A playing field is also available.
FOOTHILLS PARK Located south of Glenwood, this is managed by the Glenwood State Hospital School. Asphalt trails are available to the public free of charge.
MILE HILL PARK This 40 acre area is located Southwest of Glenwood on Highway 34. The 10-acre lake is an excellent fishing area all year round with ice fishing being a popular activity.
WEST OAK FOREST This is located four miles north of Pacific Junction on L-31. The forest includes 308-acres with 1.5 miles of trail and has parking facilities.


Other Facilities

MILLS COUNTY MUSEUM The main section of the Museum was first established in 1959, and has had three additions since then. Also included at the museum site are the Coddington Barn, a country school, machinery hall, a retired train caboose and the old Henderson jail. These are all located at the Glenwood Lake Park. The museum is open on weekends during the summer months and at pre-arranged times throughout the year. There is an admission charge. INDIAN EARTH LODGE A reconstructed lodge, located north of the Glenwood Lake Park represents the early Indians of the area. The lodge, started in 1991 and completed in 1992 hosted 3,000 visitors in its first four months. Visitors come from local, regional, and national schools/organizations. A non-profit organization, the Earth Lodge society is responsible for the care of the lodge. Tours are available by appointment by calling Carrie Merritt at 527-9221.
GLENWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY The library is open Monday through Saturday with extended hours on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Located at 109 North Vine, many services are available including community meeting rooms. NATIONAL GUARD ARMORY The armory is located on the East Side of town. It is available to groups and individuals for activities. Information can be obtained by calling 527-4416.
