The Southwest Iowa Community Betterment Association is a group of interested residents of Mills County, volunteering to promote recreational activities for citizens of all ages.

The group began in 1995, becoming incorporated in April, 1996. Non-profit status was obtained from the IRS in September 1997. Officers and a board of directors provide the leadership for the group.

SWICBA's mission is to enhance the quality of life in Mills County supporting recreational programs and facilities for area residents of all ages. The goals of the group are:

 
  • Community Betterment

  • Recreational resources for all

  • Enhanced quality of life

  • Economic development

  • Convenient local recreational opportunities

 

Members of SWICBA meet once a month to continue planning for the future of recreational services in Glenwood.

The armory located on the East side of town is now the location of the new Glenwood Community Center, which offers a sports floor, fitness and recreation room. Annual family and individual memberships are available. Information can be obtained by calling 527-4352..
